Have you seen the video eyewear headsets these days? Over the years I have tried on these Star Trek glasses at trade shows and wonder why you really need them. I have yet to hear from a gadget addict who has to have them or seen a person on a plane wearing them. However, I want to give them a fair review…
and so I checked out the latest and greatest of these video headsets and looking for feedback on them. ps – I only like 2!
Just Say NO to these looks! (really, who is sitting on the plane like this)

The Video Eyewear Concept!
Ok, so you are wondering more about this video gadget and the best way is to visually describe how it connects:
- Connect you Video enabled iPod, iPhone, Zune, DVD, XBox, Wii, etc.
- Buy the accessory that allows it to connect
- Plug in the headset & earphones
- Instant Cinema screen
No that you have the Concept let’s see who makes Video Eyewear and why you don’t want to look like the guys above
1. MyVu Crystal – All In One Package – 64″ Screen! $324

Clearly appears to be the current leader in the pack and offers the best view and the maximum compatibility for devices. With a 64″ Equivalant big screen view, the image size is 30% larger compared to previous models. With enhanced resolution and wide field of view this might be the stylish answer! The device includes cables for Zune, Nokia 95 phones, Archos, Gigabeat and RCA cables for use with portable DVD players, camcorders, Wii and Xbox. In addition, it’ s compatible with the Apple iPod and iPhone (may have to buy accessory cable) which is what I would be most interested in. Wanted to mention the earphones have noise reduction which helps on flights and a USB rechargeable battery that lasts for 4 hours. Buy the myvu crystal
2. Vuzix Wrap 920 video eyewear – 67″ Screen (wrap 310 shown in photo) (Not out Yet!)
The Vuzix Wrap 920 is the closest thing to something I would actually put on my face as they appear like sunglasses not Star Trek style head accessories. Although not on the market yet these should be big sellers since you can view a 67″ screen as seen from 10 feet in 2D or 3D displays. The big plus is ability to watch a movie in 3D as that is something really big in movie production right now. Like the other models you can plug in a variety of devices and noticed they have an adapter for HDMI which could open up you viewing possibilities even more to desktops and laptops.
Overall, it’s really bad that I was only able to come up with 2 models and encourage you to comment and share your experiences. I feel the future will be in video eyewear gadgets and the styling will come but when?
